If you don’t grow, you die.
For Ivo Tol, Director of Product at Produktiv, these words on an office wall weren’t just motivational fluff—they were a challenge, a mantra that ignited his passion for innovation and purposeful work.
And to think what might have been, had his inspiration come from a “Hang in There!” poster with a dangling cat. Nothing stifles ambition faster than fuzzy feelings and complacency.
From his native Amsterdam to Helsinki, Toronto, and his adopted Montreal, Ivo has built a reputation as an international brand man with a sharp eye for the zeitgeist. For decades, he’s led agencies into the brave new digital world, developing groundbreaking products and spearheading campaigns that transform customers into passionate promoters.
In The Intraprised, Ivo sits down with ‘intrapreneurs’—ambitious professionals who think boldly within the constraints of rigid hierarchies. These innovators juggle the delicate balance of protecting a company’s reputation, championing bold ideas, and navigating the demands of digital transformation. Through stories of enterprise innovation, Ivo inspires daring action and offers a cautionary note to the C-suite: neglect your intrapreneurs, and you might just create your competition.
Approachable, spirited, and endlessly insightful, Ivo’s hosting style makes every episode both entertaining and deeply informative. Listeners will learn how great digital products act as both a service and an experience, and how demystifying the process is the first step to understanding what truly works.
Matt Schweitz, former Googler and Co-Founder of Bit Complete, is a tech veteran who’s built digital products that scaled to hundreds of millions.
Before teaming up with Dylan Trotter to launch Bit Complete, Matt honed his craft at places like YouTube and Slack—where world-changing ideas are just part of the day’s work. Matt led teams of developers and designers to deliver high-performing software projects with precision and purpose.
For over a decade, Dylan Trotter worked in Silicon Valley—the so-called dream for ambitious developers.
Sure, he learned what it takes to build great digital products, but he also saw the side of Silicon Valley that doesn’t show up on Instagram—or in most people’s imaginations. At Google, Dylan worked alongside some of the brightest minds in tech, gaining firsthand experience in the high-stakes world of innovation. Silicon Valley really is an incredible place, he says—a wired wonderland of ideas and inspiration. But it’s not without its challenges: intense debates, relentless deadlines, and fierce competition that can push even the best to their limits.
And those “eureka moments” and overnight success stories? Mostly myths. The digital products that shape society today weren’t born out of thin air—they were crafted through relentless effort, meticulous planning, and an unshakable drive to persevere.
Dylan learned that building great products takes more than just ideas. It takes culture, collaboration, and the right people working together. Armed with these insights, he returned to his hometown of Toronto, where he “stumbled upon” (his words) an idea that would become Bit Complete.
Now, as co-founder of Bit Complete, Dylan brings his expertise and passion for building exceptional digital products to The Katalog. He’s here to share hard-earned lessons, inspire bold ideas, and maybe debunk a myth or two along the way.
How did a “really shitty” project inspire a successful startup?
For Berlin-born, Toronto-based entrepreneur Steffen Schebestra, the journey began with naive ambition, winding through experiments and missteps before landing in moments of breakthrough success.
It started in the mid-90s when Steffen’s father brought home a computer—clunky by today’s standards but life-changing for a curious teenager. Steffen spent his high school and university years hustling on programming projects with friends, fueled by big dreams and caffeine-fueled nights.
After a series of “almost-there” ventures, Steffen and his partners founded Newsletter2Go during the early boom of inbox marketing. Their perseverance paid off when a major European competitor acquired the company, propelling Steffen and his team to new heights.
Now, as an investor and advisor, Steffen guides startups and entrepreneurs through the unpredictable terrain of tech and business. Inspired by Jim Collins’ philosophy and the flywheel, he values finding purpose in work and potential in people. His grounded perspective makes him an invaluable voice on The Katalog, where he shares lessons from his journey to inspire the next wave of innovators.
